How to Troubleshoot the Night-Light on a GE Profile Spacemaker Microwave

Andrew Todd

Some models of GE Profile Spacemaker microwaves have an auto night-light feature that automatically turns the surface lights on and off at specified times. This feature is convenient as you may set the lights to turn on at a time when your kitchen gets dark, then turn off after you have gone to bed. The auto night-light feature ensures that you are not wasting electricity by leaving the surface lights running at all times. If the night-light is not properly functioning, you may need to readjust your settings or change the lightbulbs.

Troubleshoot the Night-Light on a GE Profile Spacemaker Microwave
  1. Press the "Surface Light" button to test the lightbulb. If the light does not turn on after the button is pressed, change the lightbulb. To change the bulb, remove the screw from the side of the light cover on the bottom of the microwave, then lower the light cover. Unscrew the lightbulb, then screw in the new lightbulb and secure the cover.

  2. Verify that the clock is set to the correct time, and that the "AM/PM" setting is correct. To change the clock time, press the "Clock" button, then enter the time using the key pad. Press the "AM/PM" button to choose "AM" or "PM," then press the "Start" button to save the time.

  3. Verify that the auto night-light settings are correct. To set the auto night-light, press the "Auto Nite Light" button, then enter the time that you would like the light to turn on using the numeric keypad. Press the "AM/PM" button to select "AM" or "PM," then press the "Auto Nite Light" button again to choose the time that you would like the light to turn off. Enter the off time using the numeric keypad, then press the "AM/PM" button and make your selection. Press the "Auto Nite Light" button to save the changes.
