How to Rewire a Singer Foot Pedal

Singer makes many models of sewing machines that use a foot pedal attachment. When a short occurs in the cord for the foot pedal, it will not work correctly when it is pressed. To fix this, you will require a new foot pedal for your Singer sewing machine. However, you will first need to obtain a replacement part that is designed to work with your specific Singer model.

Instructions

1. Press the "Power" switch to turn off the sewing machine.

2. Unplug the old cord for the foot pedal from the jack on the sewing machine. Set the foot pedal aside.

3. Place the base of the new foot pedal on the floor, where it can be reached with your feet. Run the cord from the foot pedal to the base of the sewing machine.

4. Plug the small end of the connector into the input on the back of the sewing machine.

5. Press the "Power" button to turn on the sewing machine. If the sewing machine has an indicator light, it will turn on.

6. Press the foot pedal with your foot to verify that the sewing mechanism will run.

Tips & Warnings

• Older Singer sewing machines may have a dual plug for the foot pedal and power supply.
