Set NAT to Open on a Verizon FiOS

Nearly all wireless routers, including Verizon FIOS routers, allow you to alter the Network Address Translation settings, or the NAT settings. This feature enables you to connect to other computers through your network. All routers vary in their default settings, and you may never need to change them. However, if you frequent online programs, including Xbox Live, you may require setting the NAT to open in order to properly connect.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Start," "Internet Explorer." Type "192.168.1.1" in the address bar and hit "Enter" to access your Verizon FiOS router. Type in the username and the password for the router, which you established with you had your Internet installed. Hit "Enter" or click "OK."

    • 2

Click "My Network." Click the device you intend to connect to your computer.

    • 3

Click "Enable Application." Click "Add." Click "Host." This opens the NAT settings. Click "Apply."
