How to Delete SIM Contacts in a BlackBerry

The subscriber-identity module (SIM) of a BlackBerry is the part of the phone that connects the phone to its mobile network. Through SIM cards inserted into the phone with the network and subscriber information, the phone can identify itself to the network. SIM cards serve a double duty by also holding limited address book information for easy access. SIM contacts are removable and can be deleted through the Contacts menu.

Instructions

    • 1

Click "Contacts" on the BlackBerry Home Screen.

    • 2

      Press the Menu/BlackBerry button.

    • 3

      Click "SIM Phone Book."

    • 4

      Press the Menu/BlackBerry button again.

    • 5

      Click "Delete."

Tips & Warnings

  • This procedure does not apply to CDMA phones, such as Verizon, Cricket Wireless or MetroPCS, because those phones don't use SIM technology.

  • Deletion of SIM card contacts is permanent. You will have to reenter the contact again if you want it back on your phone after this.

  • Due to the different operating systems between some BlackBerry models, this procedure can differ slightly depending on which BlackBerry you're using. If you have difficulty deleting SIM contacts from your BlackBerry, consult the user guide for model specific information.
