How to Raise a Dodge Pickup Truck

How to Raise a Dodge Pickup Truck thumbnail
Your truck is raised to the appropriate height when you can rotate the wheels freely.

To do maintenance on your Dodge truck, you will sometimes have to lift it off the ground. You might want to rotate the tires or replace a part of the engine that requires the truck to be raised for ease of access. If this is the case, jack up the truck using a hydraulic floor jack and then replace the jack with jack stands.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a hydraulic floor jack underneath the vehicle's control arm, which is between the two tires in the front of the vehicle. Place the jack in the center, directly beneath the shock absorber. This will save you jacking time as opposed to using the frame of the vehicle.

    • 2

Press down on the jack's arm repeatedly to raise the front of the vehicle.

    • 3

Place a jack stand directly beside the arm of the hydraulic floor jack and lower the jack so the car is resting on the jack stand instead of the jack itself.

    • 4

Repeat this step for the other front wheel.

    • 5

Raise the back wheels by jacking up the car using the back frame of the vehicle. Place jack stands to support the weight, and your truck will be fully raised.
