How to Update the IIS Self-Signed Certificate on SAN SSL

Updating a Self-Signed (VeriSign) certificate on an Internet Information Services (IIS) server is a way to ensure that your website can fight off any virus attacks or hacking attempts. IIS is a Microsoft Windows utility that can be installed either on a standalone computer or a network (SAN) server. If you're an IT administrator with the relevant skills, you can successfully update a certificate.

Instructions

1. Log on to the Windows server computer on which IIS is installed.

2. Click "Start," "Programs" and "Internet Explorer."

3. Click "View Certificate" in the Security Warning window.

4. Click the "Certification Path" tab.

5. Confirm that you wish to "Download the updated Secure Site Pro Intermediate CA Certificate." Click "OK."

6. Click "Install updated Secure Site Pro Intermediate CA Certificate." The updated certificate installs on the IIS computer.
