How to Use Garmin eTrex Vista Cx
The eTrex Vista Cx is an all-purpose mobile GPS developed by Garmin. The device comes with built-in road and back-country maps, allowing you to plot waypoints on hikes or set destinations in civilization to have the Vista Cx auto-route you along streets. The unit also includes several helpful on-foot tools, such as a compass and altimeter to help you get your bearings.

Set Waypoint

Bring up the "Map" page by pushing the "Page" key until the map appears.

Move the on-screen cursor, using the rocker button, to the waypoint's location.

Click the rocker.

Choose "Yes" when prompted to create the waypoint.
Find and Go to Locations

Press "Menu." This opens the "Find" menu.

Select "Find by name."

Choose a category, such as "Recreation" or "Dining."

Enter the name of the location you wish to find.

Make your selection when the desired location appears in the results list. A summary will appear.

Select "Go to" to have the Vista Cx auto-route you to the location.
Create a Route With Waypoints

Select "Routes," which is under the "Main" menu.

Select "New."

Enter your route's name.

Open "Select Next Point."

Choose the first waypoint you wish to travel to.

Repeat Steps 4 and 5 until you have created the route.

Choose "Navigate" to begin the route.

Tips & Warnings
View the altimeter, compass, main and map pages by pressing the "Page" key. Every time you push the button, the eTrex cycles through a page.
