How to Block Someone From Sending Me Vulgar Text Messages in Verizon Wireless
Text messaging is a common feature that cell phone carriers provide when you open a mobile account. With Verizon you have the ability to send and receive text messages from both Verizon mobile and other carrier numbers. If someone gets a hold of your Verizon cell phone number and starts sending offensive or vulgar text messages, you can block the cell phone number that is sending you the unwanted text messages by accessing the Spam Controls menu on your My Verizon account. This feature is available to every Verizon account holder at no extra charge.

Sign into your My Verizon account (see Resources).

Click on the "Block Calls & Messages" tab displayed below where it says "My Plan." This section is displayed on the bottom-left side of your account, beneath where it says "I Want To..."

Click on the "Call & Message Blocking" tab located below the heading that says "Spam Controls." Enter the phone number of the sender that is sending you vulgar text messages in the text field displayed therein. With Verizon you have the ability to block 5 phone numbers. Keep in mind that as of April 15, 2010, Verizon only blocks incoming calls and incoming messages (video, text, picture).

Click on the "Apply" tab to save the changes and Verizon will now block the number that is sending you vulgar text messages.

Tips & Warnings
The cell phone number(s) you block will be blocked for 90 days from the day you first set up the block. However, after those 90 days, you can reestablish the block for another 90 days.
