How to Use Progresso Pencils

Progresso graphite pencils are classic, high-quality tools for graphic artists and amateur sketchers alike. Progresso pencils have a graphite core and a lacquer coating for easy handling. They come in a range of colors and densities and are ideally suited for sketching on paper.

Things You'll Need

• Pencil sharpener
• Craft knife

Instructions

1. Select the Progresso pencil that best suits your needs. Progresso pencils are available in standard graphite and in a range of colors. B-series pencils contain softer graphite and are useful for shading, while H-series pencils contain harder graphite and are better suited for sketching finer details. HB- and F-series pencils are of intermediate density.

2. Gently sharpen your pencil. Use an electronic or manual pencil sharpener to achieve a fine point or a craft knife to create a blunter tip for shading.

3. Press the tip of the pencil to the page to draw fine lines.

4. Pull the side of the exposed graphite tip across the page for broad shading. Applying greater pressure will result in darker shading.
