How to Reset the Memorex 8640

If your Memorex 8640 MP3 player is frozen or acting incorrectly, the first step in troubleshooting it is performing a soft reset. A soft reset reboots the system, hopefully correcting the problem. A soft reset does not restore the unit to factory settings or delete any of your saved files or preferences. If a soft reset does not solve the problem, more in-depth troubleshooting will be needed.

Instructions

1. Slide the power switch to the "Off" position.

2. Use your fingernail to gently lift the rubber cover on the right-hand side of the Memorex 8640 MP3 player. Once lifted, the recessed reset button and mini SD memory card slot will be exposed.

3. Insert a thin item, such as a straightened paperclip, into the recessed reset hole. Push firmly downward, so the item presses against the button.

4. Release the button after it has been held down for 10 seconds. Turn the MP3 player on.
