How to Install a Bell HDTV

HDTV has re-defined the quality most people expect from their television.

Bell provides high-definition television (HDTV) services in Canada. To receive these services, you need both a high-definition television and an HD receiver. Installing both correctly ensures that you'll receive the full HDTV service for which you signed up. If you already have the appropriate HD cable running to your house, you'll be able to install the HDTV yourself. Otherwise, a Bell technician will have to do the installation.

Things You'll Need

• HDTV
• Bell HD receiver
• HDMI cable (comes with receiver)

Instructions

1. Check that the appropriate coaxial cable for HDTV is in your home. If you're new to this home, but you suspect the previous owner had it, check in places where they may have put a TV. It will look like a half-inch thick cable with a small round metal socket on one end, probably coming out from a small hole in the wall. When you find it, plug it into the "In" socket in the back of your Bell receiver.

2. Plug the HDMI cable that came with the receiver into the "HDMI Out" socket on the back of the HD receiver, and plug the opposite end of the HDMI cable into the "HDMI In" socket on your HDTV.

3. Turn on the receiver and TV, and wait for them to boot up. The receiver may take a few minutes to start up and load all necessary information.

4. Call Bell at 1-866-353-9153 if you can't locate the cable, if the HDTV doesn't start automatically when plugged in, or if you're not sure if you have Bell HDTV service. Sometimes they have to reset their server connection to your home or area, if there's a problem.
