How to Install Solar Garden Walkway Lights

Solar lights are easy to install and easy to maintain.

Lighting paths and stairs with solar garden lights helps you and your guests navigate outdoors safely when the sun goes down. Solar garden walkway lights run off the power of the sun. They have small solar panels on the top of the lights that charge an internal battery. This makes them start shining at dusk. The solar lights have mini spotlights that are mounted horizontally to concentrate light onto to walkways and stairs. Solar walkway lights are available in many styles in both plastic and metal varieties.

Things You'll Need

• Solar lights
• Rubber mallet

Instructions

1. Decide the location for your solar garden lights around your walkway. Make sure the solar lights are in full sun for the best results.

2. Lay out the solar lights and adjust the locations until the spacing between each light and the walkway seems correct.

3. Follow the solar lights manufacturer's instructions for assembling the solar lights.

4. Follow the solar lights manufacturer's instructions for installation specifics. Pound the head of the light's stakes into the ground with a rubber mallet until it's level or slightly above ground level.

5. Screw the lights into the stakes by twisting the bottom of the light's base clockwise into the top of the stake's head. Repeat until all lights are assembled.

6. Allow the solar lights to charge in the sun for a few hours before use.

Tips & Warnings

• Do not tighten the light too tight when screwing the light base into the head of the stake. Tightening the light too tight could crack the light's base.

• Remove plastic solar lights at the threat of heavy snow which could crush them.
