How to Reinstall an eMachine
Sometimes something goes wrong with your computer and your only option is to reinstall the operating system and other programs. eMachines come with a set of CDs known as "recovery disks" to make the process much easier. These disks will reset your eMachine to its factory settings, including the operating system and any software that came with the computer. Once you've completed the recovery process, you can reinstall any software that didn't come with the computer.

1
Make sure your CD-ROM is connected. If you have a desktop or a notebook, the CD-ROM is usually built in. Netbooks may use external CD-ROMs.
-
2
Insert the first recovery disk and restart your computer.
-
-
3
Enter the BIOS set-up. While the computer is booting, select F2 when the prompt appears on the screen.
-
4
Open the "Boot" menu. Use the arrow keys on your keyboard.
-
5
Change the "boot order" of your devices. If CDROM is not the first option, follow the instructions in the menu to make it the first option.
-
6
Save the BIOS settings. Follow the onscreen instructions to save the new settings and exit.
-
7
Follow the recovery disk prompts. Instead of attempting to start Windows, the computer will launch the recovery program from the CD.
-
8
Test the new installation. If Windows boots normally and the computer seems stable, you can begin reinstalling your new software. Windows will need to install Microsoft and driver updates on the first boot, so be sure you're connected to the Internet.
