1
Cut the cardboard into two equal sized shapes. To make an actual Christmas tree, cut triangles with 26-inch bases and sides. If you'd prefer a rectangle with ribbon in the shape of a Christmas tree, cut your cardboard into two 2-foot by 3-foot pieces.
-
2
Cut fabric about 2 inches all around larger than the cardboard pieces. Lay the fabric on a flat surface and top with the two cardboard pieces stacked on top of each other. Pull the edges of the fabric tightly around to the back of the cardboard and use duct tape to secure in place.

3
Cut and lay ribbon in a diamond shaped grid diagonally over the triangular board. If you choose to make a rectangular board, lay one piece of ribbon vertically with horizontal "branches" that decrease in size from the bottom up to make a Christmas tree shape.
-
4
Secure the ribbon by pushing flat, decorative thumb tacks through the ends and at the point where ribbons cross. If you can't find thumb tacks you like, use straight pins pushed through the hole in a single sequin and then use pliers to bend the sharp end back.

5
Hot glue two soft drink pull tabs to the back of the card holder for hanging. Slide Christmas cards between the board and the ribbon for display.
