How to Troubleshoot the LG Envy 2 Internal Display

The internal screen is a vital part of the LG EnV2 phone -- it displays your text messages, allows settings to be changed and lets you browse the Web. The external screen may allow you to do some things such as seeing missed calls, the date and time, and signal strength; but the internal screen, being the bigger screen, provides a more complete experience. The internal screen may stop working from a software malfunction, in which case you can try a couple resets that often will make the screen work again.

Instructions

    • 1

Press and hold the power key -- it is labeled "End" in red above the "3' button. This will turn the phone off.

    • 2

Turn the phone over and press the back cover release hatch button at the bottom of the phone. Slide off the back cover and use your fingernail to pop up the battery and remove it.

    • 3

Inspect the phone for any liquid damage or broken pieces. Reinsert the battery and place the back cover on. Press the power key to turn the phone on. Test out the functionality of the screen.

    • 4

Press the center "OK" button to launch the main menu.

    • 5

Click the "9" to bring up the "Tools and settings" options.

    • 6

Press the "6" button to bring up the "Phone settings."

    • 7

Press the "6" button again to pull up the "Security" menu. Enter the four-digit security code you use for your phone. If you never set up a security code, the default is the last four digits of your cell phone number.

    • 8

Press the "6" button to choose "Restore phone," and then press the center "OK" button. This will perform a master reset, which will return the phone to the original factory settings. The phone will shut off and turn back on again once the reset has finished. Test the screen display.

    • 9

Contact your cell phone carrier to do an exchange through the warranty. The warranty is voided if the phone has any damage such as broken pieces, cracks in the screen or liquid damage. If this is the case, insurance will cover the replacement if you have it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Back up your personal information to a computer using a USB cord before doing the master reset.

  • The master reset will erase any personal information stored on the phone such as pictures, text messages and contacts.

  • Insurance claims have a deductible that is paid first before a replacement phone is sent.
