How to Change the Code on a Dalton Garage Door Opener

Wayne Dalton is a manufacturer of garage doors and storm protection equipment based in Mount Hope, Ohio. The company does not make its own garage door opener mechanisms; instead, all Wayne Dalton doors are fitted with Genie openers. Change the code on your Genie mechanism if you suspect someone may know your existing PIN. It is also good practice to periodically change your opening mechanism code. Allow roughly five minutes for this task.

Instructions

1. Press and hold down the "Prog," "6" and "Up/Down" buttons on your Genie control panel. Release the buttons when the LED light flashes. This will erase your existing code.

2. Press "3" then "5" then "7" and finally "Prog." The red LED will blink.

3. Enter a new code of between 3 and 8 digits.

4. Press the "Prog" key. The LED will flash and you code is stored.
