Turn your cell phone off. Press and hold the power button for at least two seconds. Avoid pressing other keys because some BlackBerry devices will remain on.

Flip the phone over and remove the phone cover. Some models, such as the BlackBerry Curve 9330, require users to gently pry the phone cover off. Insert a thumbnail into the small groove located at the bottom of the phone cover and lift. Place the cover aside.

Remove the battery from its housing compartment. Gently insert a fingernail and lift the edges of the battery.
