How to Obtain a State ID Card in Hawaii
A driver's license commonly is used to verify identity or age. If you do not have a driver's license or your license has been revoked or suspended, a state-issued ID card can be used for identification purposes. Residents of Hawaii may apply for an ID card if the applicant currently does not have a driver's license or an identification card from another state. The application process go through the Oahu State ID office.

Obtain a State ID Card application by visiting the Oahu State ID office or online at the Hawaii Department of the Attorney General website. Forms may be completed electronically or printed and completed by hand.

Provide required personal information on the application, including full name, address, phone number, date of birth, Social Security number and physical attributes, including hair color, eye color, weight and height.

Sign and date the application. The signature of a parent or legal guardian is required for applicants under the age of 14.

Submit the completed application, documents proving identity and U.S. citizenship and proof of your permanent Hawaii address to a state ID office. Acceptable documentation includes a certified birth certificate, U.S. passport, Social Security card or alien registration card. A lease agreement, W-2 tax form or utility bill in the applicant's name is sufficient to prove residency. A supplemental information form must be completed if a U.S. passport is presented. Have your photograph and thumbprint taken at the state ID office.

Tips & Warnings
Hawaii state ID cards expire on the cardholder's birthday six years after issuance and can be renewed by mail.
State ID card applications may be submitted online with a credit card for an additional fee. Supporting documentation must be presented in person at a state ID office.
