How to Connect the Canon 40D Battery Grip
Single-lens reflex cameras such as the Canon EOS 40D give the photographer lots of opportunities when it comes to shooting. Additional accessories, however, provide even more options. The Canon BG-E2N battery grip is designed for the Canon 40D camera to double the shooting time and improving vertical shooting control. This battery grip makes vertical photography more comfortable and more stable.

1
Place your Canon 40D camera on a flat surface and hold it firmly. Open the battery compartment cover located on the bottom of the camera. Pull it out at a slanted angle to remove.
-
2
Store the detached battery compartment cover either in the battery grip, as recommended by the Canon 40D user manual, or store it elsewhere.
-
-
3
Open the battery compartment door on the battery grip. Place two Canon lithium-battery packs or six AA batteries inside it, according to the instructions written on its door, and close it.
-
4
Connect the battery grip to the camera by sliding it in. The battery grip should be screwed onto the camera's tripod adapter threads, which connect the camera to a tripod. The Canon logo should be located right under the camera's lens, and the small shutter button of the battery grip should be located on the lower left-hand corner. Verify that the battery grip is tightly connected to the camera.
-
5
Place the camera with the battery grip on the bottom onto a tripod. The battery grip has its own tripod adapter threads and for use with a tripod. This step is optional, as the Canon 40D with the battery grip may be used with or without a tripod.
-
6
Reattach the battery compartment cover after removing the battery grip by slanting it at an angle, the same way as it was removed, and inserting its hinge into the camera. Close it until you hear a slight click.
