Detect Cheating

If you think your spouse or partner may be cheating, it's difficult to avoid imagining all sorts of horrible scenarios. Cheating occurs more often than most people think, but that's not a sufficient reason to jump to conclusions and accuse your partner. If you want to detect whether or not your spouse is cheating, use discreet methods to confirm your suspicions before making any serious accusations.

Instructions

    • 1

Notice schedule changes. If your spouse or partner has a sudden increase in business trips or late nights at the office, that's not a good sign. It does not necessarily mean that he or she is cheating, but you should be on alert if you notice a lot of new plans that don't include you.

    • 2

Pay attention to personal appearance and grooming. Most people tend to let themselves go a little bit in a serious relationship, but never at the beginning of one. If your spouse's primping routine has increased out of nowhere, with new underwear or cologne, it may be a sign that the effort is being made for someone new.

    • 3

Evaluate your sex life. If it has significantly decreased, that's not a good sign. Try sparking a little passion in your relationship with a sexy evening for two, and see how your spouse reacts. If he's not interested in having sex with you at all, it's time to be a little suspicious.

    • 4

Look in pockets. Doing laundry is a perfect excuse, and many people forget small receipts in their pockets when they take off their clothes. If you find excess ATM receipts and there's no reason to take out extra cash, or receipts from restaurants, bars or clubs, your partner may indeed be seeing someone else.

    • 5

Use your nose. Every person has his or her own distinct smell, even with perfume. If you find that your spouse suddenly smells different, or brings home clothes with a lingering foreign odor, try to find a reasonable explanation before jumping to conclusions. However, if the odor is definitely cologne or perfume, your spouse may be seeing someone.

    • 6

Review bank accounts and credit card statements. Look for excessive cash withdrawals, restaurant bills, bar tabs or charges for hotel rooms. Secret spending can be a sign that your spouse is cheating.

Tips & Warnings

  • Show up unexpectedly for a lunch at the office and see how your spouse reacts. If he or she is surprised in a bad way, that's a sign of possible cheating.

  • Don't check personal computers, email or phones. You would feel violated if someone went through your private things, and you should have the same respect for others.
