How to Change Your Nickname on IRC

IRC or Internet Relay Chat is a chat system run on many different clients that allow users to create chat rooms and communicate with others through the rooms or privately with one another. IRC clients accept text-based commands, which are the primary way individuals control the different functions available in IRC.

Instructions

1. Open your IRC client.

2. Type "/Nick" followed by one space then the new nickname you want to use. IRC nicknames are limited to nine characters.

3. Press "Enter." A prompt will be displayed in the chat window that your name has been changed. If your name conflicts with an existing member, you will get an error message prompting you to select a new name.
