How to Arch Plywood
Plywood arching is often necessary when constructing curved room or passageway ceilings. Successful plywood arching demands precise measurements and a series of 2-by-3-inch framing lumber reinforcements along the flat surface of the vertical wall where the main body of your plywood will attach. Consider blue prints before beginning and consult an interior design professional with questions or concerns. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Measure both wall openings and the ceiling arch. Draw identical dimensions onto two identical rectangular pieces of plywood.
-
2
Cut the plywood to match the measurements. For example, if the wall is 5-feet wide and the arch measures 1-foot deep your plywood dimensions should measure 5-feet-by-1-foot.

3
Curve a seperate piece of bendable wood to mimick the arch dimensions. Place the edges of the curved wood flush against each plywood sheet and trace the arch. Cut each plywood sheet along the arch stencil.

4
Nail 2-by-3-inch pieces of framing lumber amid the two sheets of plywood along the three flat edges at half-foot gaps and at the base of the bow of the arch. Completed successfully, the plywood is now arched and strong.
