How do I Install Car Audio in a Chevrolet Truck?
General Motors designed the Chevy truck with a stereo mounting dock that is accessible without the use of many of the tools usually required for car stereo removal. Even if you're a car audio novice, you can replace the Chevy's head unit in a modest amount of time. Purchase the necessary adapters and install the car audio system in your Chevrolet truck in under one hour.

Pull the two levers beside the factory stereo downward to release the stock head unit from the vehicle's stereo mounting bracket. Slide the unit from the dock and disconnect the two stereo wiring connectors from the outlets on the back of the radio. Unplug the antenna cable from the lower-right corner of the unit and set the stereo deck aside.

Slide the aftermarket faceplate adapter into the stereo mounting dock. Feed the stereo wiring and antenna cables from the back of the dock, through the faceplate adapter and out through the front of the dashboard opening.

Plug the two plastic wiring connectors into the wiring harness adapter leads. Plug the antenna cable lead into the GM antenna cable adapter. Plug the wiring harness adapter lead connectors into the appropriate outlets on the rear panel of the new radio unit. Insert the GM antenna adapter lead into the input on the back of the new deck marked "FM ANT."
