How to Troubleshoot a Statim 5000 Autoclave
The Statim 5000 Autoclave is used in laboratories to sterilize equipment before or after use, especially after tests involving pathogens like Salmonella. If this machine is not working properly, it can cause errors in test results or spread diseases unintentionally. The machine is equipped with numerous error messages to alert users to any problems the machine may be experiencing. Also, some minor problems can be easily fixed on-site, without the help of technical staff.

1
Turn on your Statim 5000 Autoclave and observe the error message or problem. Error messages, like Check Cassette 1, 2, 3, etc. or Cycle Fault 1, 2, 3, etc. on the display indicate problems with the calibration or other machine settings and you must consult the user's manual to correct these problems.

2
Disconnect the keypad plug from the machine, if the keypad doesn't work. Do this by removing the autoclave's cover, and disconnecting the keypad's cable from the PC Board. Reconnect keypad, and ensure there is a firm connection. Replace keypad if this does not correct the problem.

3
Check plug connections for the LCD display if it is garbled or if there is nothing on the display. The plug connections that run from the cover to PCB should be firmly connected and the microprocessor should be in its socket.
-
4
Repair any leaks that cause clicking noises when a cassette is removed. Steam leaking from the cassette causes the clicking noise. The noise will stop 24 hours after replacing the leaking cassette.
-
5
Clean or replace the solenoid if the machine is making a loud buzzing noise. The solenoid is an electromagnet located between the boiler and water pump. Turn off the machine before removing the solenoid, and clean by carefully brushing terminals with a dry cloth. Consult your owner's manual for detailed instruction before removing the solenoid.
