How to Cut Pavers for a Curved Walk
Making a curved walkway is a simple project that almost anyone can do. The hardest part about creating a curved walk is cutting the square or rectangular pavers into the rounded shape. This process becomes much easier with the use of a garden hose and an angle grinder. This project should take about one day to complete. Once the cutting process is over, you can easily lay the pavers in place to finish the curved walk. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Measuring tape
- Pavers
- Garden hose
- Chalk
- Safety goggles
- Ear protection
- Dust mask
- Work gloves
- Angle grinder with masonry blade

1
Measure the angle of the curved area where you want to install the pavers. If possible, set the pavers in that area slightly beyond the part where you want to curve the pavers. This way, you can determine how many pavers you will have to cut and the precise angle that you will need to use to create a perfect fit.
-
2
Use a garden hose to outline the curve on top of the pavers. Make sure you have all of the pavers necessary that you will use in that precise spot. If the pavers are small, it could take upwards of 10 pavers to create each curve.

3
Draw the outline of the curve onto the pavers with chalk. Try to keep the angle as precise as possible to make it easier to cut the pavers. Draw an "X" on the part of each paver that you will not use once the cut is made. This makes it easier to reassemble the pavers after making the cuts.
-
4
Put on all safety gear including a dust mask, ear protection, safety goggles and work gloves. Separate the pavers to make it easier to cut them.
-
5
Cut each paver along the chalk line with an angle grinder. Go slowly, and allow the weight of the angle grinder to cut through each paver. Do not try to force the cut.
-
6
Reassemble the pavers into the curved shape. Repeat the process for any other curves that you want to make in the walkway.

Tips & Warnings
It is best to wait to make the cuts until you have the base for the walkway already installed. This way, once you cut the pavers you can immediately install them into the walkway while the pattern is fresh in your mind.
