How to Create With Sculpey Clay
Sculpey clay is a polymer, plasticine-like clay you can sculpt and model like ceramic clays. Sculpting with Sculpey clay is highly convenient because it can be baked right in a conventional oven instead of in a high temperature kiln. In order to effectively make a clay sculpture out of polymer Sculpey clay, it is helpful to follow a few guidelines that will ensure that the clay will be hardened properly.

1
Knead the amount of Sculpey clay you want to work with for 10 minutes to remove any air bubbles. Kneading the clay will prevent your sculptures from cracking or crumbling after they have been baked in the oven.
-
2
Mold the Sculpey clay into the shape and form that you want. You can use your hands or clay tools like a rolling pin or a clay knife. You will not need to use water when working the clay, as Sculpey clay is not a water-soluble clay.

-
3
Place the sculptures onto a cookie sheet. You will not need to prepare the cookie sheet because Sculpey clay will not stick to it.
-
4
Preheat a conventional oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
-
5
Bake the sculptures for 10 minutes, then allow them to cool completely before displaying them. Allowing the sculptures to cool will prevent them from cracking.
