How to Troubleshoot a Ricoh FT4022
The Ricoh FT4022 is an office-size copier that is capable of printing both monochrome and in color. The Ricoh FT4022 has two paper drawers that can hold 250 sheets of copy paper each. The toner that is used by this copier is a powder toner that is electrically charged on the printer drum and then transferred to the copy paper. The printing drum is the central part of the copier and must be cared for while performing maintenance or troubleshooting problems.

Open the top paper drawer of the Ricoh FT4022 copier and check that there is adequate paper supply to feed through the machine. Check the paper for wrinkles or folds that could affect the ability of the machine to feed the paper through.

Open the access doors on the front of the Ricoh FT4022 copier and check the paper-feed mechanisms for crumpled, wrinkled or jammed paper.

Remove any jammed paper and refill the paper drawers. Send a print job to the printer to test the paper-feed mechanisms.
Dirty Copies

Open the front access panel of the Ricoh FT4022 and locate the printing drum. Examine the drum for excess toner. The drum should have a relatively clean appearance without streaks or toner dust.

Locate the cleaning blade on the left side of the drum. The cleaning blade is responsible for removing the remaining toner on the drum after the image has been transferred to the paper. The cleaning blade should be lightly touching the left side of the drum so that it can remove the excess toner.

Use a screwdriver to adjust the cleaning blade as necessary, and move the cleaning blade closer to the drum. Make sure that the cleaning blade doesn't press on the drum so that it creates a crease in the drum surface.
Light Copies

Remove the toner cartridge from the Ricoh FT4022 printer and check the fill level. As the toner cartridge becomes low on toner, the copies will begin to appear faded, or lighter-color print may not appear at all.

Replace the empty toner cartridge with a new cartridge.

Send a new copy request to the printer to get the new toner into the system. Copies will appear darker.
