How do I Troubleshoot a HP Pavilion Tx1120us Pen?
Tablet PCs are great for people who need a device both for regular computing and for tasks like note-taking and one-on-one demonstrations. Losing the capability to use the HP Pavilion Tx1120us stylus pen effectively eliminates the "tablet" function of this laptop, so ensuring that the pen is responsive and functioning satisfactorily is extremely important. If you find that your stylus pen is unresponsive, or if you are unhappy with its performance, there are several steps you can take to remedy the problem.
Instructions

Pen Is Unresponsive
-
1
Make sure that the laptop has been converted to the "Tablet" configuration, because the touch screen and stylus pen will not work in "Notebook" mode. Open the lid until the monitor is perpendicular to your desktop and the keyboard, turn the monitor clockwise until the display faces away from you and pull the laptop lid down toward the keyboard until it locks into the "Tablet" position.

2
Clean the touch screen to ensure that the pen is making adequate contact with the surface. Make sure to use a non-abrasive wipe to avoid damaging the display. This should also be done when troubleshooting pen performance issues.

Reinstall the pen. Remove the battery, disconnect the power cord and connected devices, then shut down the computer and remove the pen from the pen holder. Re-insert the pen, reinstall the battery, reconnect the power cord and turn the computer on.

Calibrate your touch screen to ensure that it is optimized for your handwriting and gestures. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel." From the Control Panel, open "Tablet PC Settings." Click the "General" tab, select "Calibrate" and follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your touchscreen.
-
5
Adjust the mouse preferences to resolve issues with pointer or clicking response speed. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel," then choose "Hardware and Sound" and select "Mouse." Make any desired adjustments and click "OK."

6
Test your pen settings from the Pen and Input Devices menu. Click "Start" and select "Control Panel," then select "Pen and Input Devices" from the "Hardware and Sound" menu. Click "Pen Options," select "Settings" and perform the "Press and hold test" to make sure that the press and hold settings are optimized for your use. If not, adjust the "Right-click mode activation" and "Press and hold duration" options until the "Press and hold test" works to your satisfaction.
If you find that Press and Hold makes it difficult to write with your stylus, you can turn it off from the "Press and Hold" menu by clicking "Settings" and clearing the "Enable press and hold for right-click" check box.
