Get better bass in your Escalade by installing a sub.

It's not very hard to get pumping bass out of your Escalade by installing a subwoofer, or sub. A sub is a speaker specifically designed to reproduce the low bass frequencies of music more accurately than a larger speaker, so installing one helps you get crisp and accurate bass reproduction. With low frequencies, speaker placement is not critical, so mount a sub in the truck of the Escalade and you can have crisp bass frequencies all over the car.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Measure the size of your sub enclosure and determine how you would like to mount it in the trunk. You can mount it parallel to the back of the rear seats or you can mount it along one side of the trunk. Where you decide will be based on the size of your subwoofer box and what you generally put in the trunk.

    • 2

Attach the speaker wire to the terminal cup in the rear of the subwoofer enclosure and connect it to the terminals on the back of the speaker. Mount the sub in the subwoofer enclosure and secure it using the screws.

    • 3

Glue at least two strips of Velcro on the bottom of the enclosure using the wood glue. Glue two corresponding strips of Velcro on to the carpet in the trunk. These two strips should be the same length as the ones on the box.

    • 4

Attach the speaker wire to your amplifier and run it through the car to the place you will mount the sub. The route varies depending on the position of your amplifier, but you can hide the wire under the carpet and under the trim by lifting the edges of both using the screwdriver.

    • 5

Attach the speaker wire to the back of the sub enclosure and place the sub enclosure in place on top of the Velcro.

Tips & Warnings

  • The sub can be easily removed by detaching the wires and pulling it off the Velcro -- useful if you need extra trunk space.

  • Break the speaker in by playing it at a low volume for 20 hours before cranking it up.

  • Wait until all the glue has dried before you drive hard, otherwise the box may become detached.
