Installation of Different Wiper Blade Clips

Installation of Different Wiper Blade Clips thumbnail
Replace your windshield wiper blades if they start to streak.

Wiper blades will eventually wear down. You should replace a wiper blade when it begins to streak rather than clear water from the windshield. Replace wipers also if rubber is peeling away from the blade, the blade skips rather than slides across the windshield or the blade has a bent or broken frame. There are different methods for installing wiper blades. Some wiper blades attach by a hook or a pin, and others require the insertion of a blade pin.

Instructions

  1. Regular Hook

    • 1

Move the wiper arm on the windshield up until it locks into place. The arm will stand straight up in its locked position.

    • 2

Push the top of the blade that is currently attached to the arm downward. This action will unlock the blade from the arm.

    • 3

Line the hole in the mid-section of the new blade with the hook on the top end of the wiper arm. Slide the hook into the blade hole.

    • 4

Push the new blade up once it is hooked into the arm until you hear a clicking noise. This locks the blade to the arm. Repeat the process to attach the second windshield wiper.

    Pin Side Lock

    • 5

Hold the wiper arm and blade. Notice the lever in the middle of the wiper blade.

    • 6

Push the blade lever upward. Then pull off the blade and pin from the wiper arm.

    • 7

Push the lever on the new blade up. Then insert the pin into the pin hole of the new blade. Push the lever down.

    • 8

Align the pin on the new wiper blade with the hole on the arm.

    • 9

Push the pin down into the wiper arm hole until it clicks into place.

    Side Lock

    • 10

Raise the wiper arm and raise the lever on the wiper blade. Then remove the old blade from the arm.

    • 11

Raise the lever on the new wiper blade.

    • 12

Turn the wiper blade to the side and push the pin on the arm into the hole in the middle of the blade.

    • 13

Push down the lever on the blade until it is firmly in place.
