How to Open S/MIME
S/MIME stands for "Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions." It is a standard protocol for public key encryption. In other words, S/MIME encrypts all messages that flow in and out of your Exchange server. It protects your communications and sensitive data from potential hackers. You can open and enable S/MIME on your server using a tool called "Exchange Management Shell." This is an administrative tool that can be accessed in server computers. Note that you will need administrative rights to perform this task.
