How to Get Plywood on a Roof

Roofing a house can be a tedious job that includes more work than it looks like it does. It may seem like sticking shingles down is the only part of doing a roof but it is not. All of the materials used in roofing from plywood to shingles to tar must be transported to the roof by some means. Smaller items like nails and nail guns are easy to carry but items like plywood require careful movement to the roof by more than one person. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Situate the ladder up against the section of the roof you wish to get the plywood to.

    • 2

Tie a long rope around the plywood. Make sure the wood maintains balance when held up by the rope.

    • 3

Hand off the opposite end of the rope to your partner and situate the plywood against the ladder. Have your partner climb up to the top of the roof.

    • 4

Have your partner pull the rope so that the plywood starts to lift up. While your partner pulls the rope, steady the plywood against the ladder so it does not swing recklessly.

    • 5

Hold the plywood and guide it up to the roof while your partner pulls it all the way up. Once your partner has the plywood up top, climb the ladder and assist him in putting the plywood in a secure place. Pull the rope off the plywood and repeat the process as needed.
