How to Clean a Weber Crossover Burner

A Weber Crossover Burner is the part of a gas grill that supplies gas and fire to the grill. If the burner becomes clogged with food, dust or debris, gas cannot travel through the pipe. The crossover burner should be checked and cleaned whenever the barbeque fails to ignite to remove buildup and debris. If after cleaning the unit still won't ignite, ensure gas is flowing through the grill. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Turn off the gas supply to the Weber grill. Never attempt to clean or repair any portion of the grill while the propane or gas supply is flowing.

    • 2

Pull the manifold clips outward for removal. The manifold is the metal pan that surrounds the sides and bottom of the burners. Once the clips are removed, slightly lift the manifold upward and then pull outward for removal.

    • 3

Look inside of the burner with a flashlight. You are looking for buildup and debris. Insert a wire, such as a straightened wire hanger, into the burner. Gently move the wire around to loosen and remove any debris and buildup. Look inside the burner with the flashlight again. If you still notice debris and buildup, keep cleaning until it is removed.

Brush the outside of the burner with a brass bristle brush. Brush or rub firmly to ensure the burner port is fully open and free of debris.

    • 5

Fit the manifold back onto the Weber BBQ. Clip it back in place with the manifold clips.
