Easy Bed Frame Building Plans

Keeping the mattress you sleep on off of the floor is important to your health. A mattress set directly on the floor makes the person using it more prone to dust, mites, drafts, cold temperature from the floor and other problems. Instead of buying a bed frame, you can build a simple structure out of 2-by-4-inch boards and plywood. This frame can be knocked down when you need to move. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Set up a 72-inch board with the 2-inch side vertical. Space another 72-inch board 18 inches away from the first board in the same position. Place the third 72-inch board 18 inches away from the second board in the same position. Make the ends of the three boards flush.

    • 2

Place one of the 36-inch boards at either end of the 72-inch boards. Set the narrow sides of the short boards vertical to the ground. Make the ends of the boards flush with the ends of the long boards, forming a rectangle.

    • 3

Drill three screws through the sides of the short boards into the ends of each long board. You should have nine screws on each short board holding it to the three longer boards.

    • 4

Lay the plywood over the frame. Line up the corners and edges of the plywood with the frame. Drill screws through the plywood into the top of the frame every 12 inches on each side of the frame.
