Planting Instructions for the Dracunculus Vulgaris
Dracunculus vulgaris, also known as black dragon, dragon arum, snake lily and stink lily, grows to a height of 3 feet and has green, fan shaped leaves. The flowers are a dark, maroon color and bloom during the summer months. They have a foul smell that turns off many gardeners from planting this plant. Drancuncus grows well in United States Department of Agriculture Plant Zones 7 to 10. In colder zones, the tubers can be dug up in the fall, stored and replanted in the spring, if desired.
