How to Change Gears on a Jerico Transmission
The Jerico transmission is a four-speed manual transmission. The Jerico transmission is commonly found in racing cars or cars that participate in drag racing. The manual transmission gives drivers the ability to adjust the gear shift and clutch manually, according to the driving conditions. This gives the driver more control when driving up and down slopes.

1
Locate the manual shift gears to the right of you, once you are seated in the car. Become familiar with the feel and location of each gear shift. The car should be set to neutral, which is designated by the "N" or "Neutral" on the gear shift.
-
2
Push down on the left pedal clutch and move the stick back and forth to different gears.
-
-
3
Engage the clutch by pushing down on it and move the gear shift into the "Drive" position. The car will start moving slowly and you may feel the car bucking if you release the clutch too quickly. This becomes easier with time.
-
4
Press your foot on the gas pedal on the right side to collect speed while driving.
-
5
Switch into first and second gear by pushing down on the gear shift and moving it up or down to the "1" or "2" gear.
-
6
Use the downshift when you are heading down a slope. This will allow more acceleration as needed. You can do this by removing your foot from the right pedal -- the gas pedal -- and pressing down on the clutch. Move to the lower gear and release the clutch when you apply gas.
-
7
Apply the gear to the parking brake and leave the gearshift in reverse or "1st" to put the parking brakes on.
