How Do I Disarm a Mountaineer Alarm?

How Do I Disarm a Mountaineer Alarm? thumbnail
Disarm the Mountaineer alarm in a few easy steps.

If your Mercury Mountaineer alarm system has been activated, you can disarm it and set it back to the base setting. This will turn off the alarm horn and lights that go off to scare away thieves and alert bystanders of an attempted theft. Once the Mountaineer is reset, the alarm will still be armed but not activated. This way, you can continue to use the car as you normally would while knowing the alarm is ready should someone try and force their way into the car.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Panic" button on the remote only if the alarm is already activated and the horns are beeping. This will disable the horn and lights and quiet the car while you continue to reset the alarm.

    • 2

Press the "unlock" button on the remote to open the Mountaineer's doors.

    • 3

Enter the car and put the key in the ignition cylinder. Turn the car on and off. This will deactivate the alarm and put it in a disarmed state as long as the key is in the ignition.

Remove the key from the ignition. Close the door and lock the doors to arm the alarm system again. The horn and lights will not go off because the alarm isn't in active mode, but the alarm will be reset back to its base armed mode.
