How to Write a Proper Job Application
When you're applying for a new job every step of the process is key to your success, including the job application. Some applicants make the mistake of rushing to fill out the application in person, but in truth it's usually smarter to take the application home to fill out carefully. Keep a few key details in mind as you write information into your job application.

1
Read the blank application from beginning to end to see what the employer wants to know. Think about how you want to answer each question before you start writing. Ask the manager at the company questions about the application if necessary so that you're clear about what it's requesting.
-
2
Write down your education, skills, qualifications and other elements asked of the job application on a separate sheet of paper before you start filling out the actual form. Take the time to order, narrow down, and add to the information so that you know exactly how to write it in on the application.

3
Write a listing all of the specific experiences, including jobs and training, you've had that specifically apply to this job. This helps you remember to list all of that experience in the applicable sections on the application.
-
4
Use a blue or black pen to start filling out your application. Avoid using an unconventional ink color, such as red, pink or purple. Write in your details slowly, carefully and neatly. Fill out each section --- if it doesn't apply write in "not applicable" or an explanation. Provide truthful answers to each question.
-
5
Call your references before listing them on the application to verify that it's fine to do so. Make sure the numbers are valid before listing them.
-
6
Look over your application thoroughly before you submit it to the employer. Ensure that everything is spelled and expressed correctly. Ask a friend to check it over if possible to catch mistakes. If necessary, get a new blank application and start again.
