How to Change the Battery in a Honda CBR

The battery in a Honda CBR provides power for the starter to turn over the engine. When the battery goes out, the starter motor has no power to energize, and you won't be able to ride your Honda down the road. To take care of this problem, you will need to remove the battery from the motorcycle and replace it with a new one. The job should take you about 30 minutes, and all you will need is a screwdriver.

Things You'll Need

• Phillips screwdriver

Instructions

1. Remove the two screws in the lower corners on the back of the seat of the Honda CBR, using the Phillips screwdriver. Pull the seat off and place it to the side.

2. Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery with the Phillips screwdriver, then repeat on the positive terminal. Slide the rubber battery tie-down strap forward off the battery. Lift the battery up and out of the battery tray.

3. Position the new battery in the tray. Pull the rubber battery tie-down strap over the top of the battery to lock it in place. Connect the positive terminal to the battery, followed by the negative terminal, using the Phillips screwdriver.

4. Reinstall the seat on the motorcycle and secure it with the two screws.
