How to Troubleshoot Brady IDXPERT PC

How to Troubleshoot Brady IDXPERT PC thumbnail
The IDXPERT prints standard barcodes.

The Brady IDXPERT PC is designed to print labels using its own interface with label import capabilities. Upon setting up and using your Brady, you may begin to experience problems with its basic functionality. Navigating some simple steps and conducting your own maintenance will have your IDXPERT operating with efficiency again shortly. You can correct power issues by removing old batteries and replacing them with new ones, clean the inside of the printer to correct splotchy labels, and make the font size smaller.

Instructions

Clean the printer if the print quality becomes poor by first removing the label cartridge. Turn the lever (located on the front of the Brady just above the display) down to release the cartridge. Eject the cartridge by pushing the cartridge release button on the back of the printer, and then pull the cartridge away from the printer. Wet the tip of a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the print head (the rightmost piece on the inside of the cartridge chamber), wipe the label exit slot (the area where the print exits the chamber, near the blade), and wipe the deflector plate (located to the right of the roller inside the chamber).

Change the batteries if your Brady suddenly dies. Turn the printer over onto its face and place your finger underneath the cover latch. Pull against the latch and pull the cover off. Remove the old batteries that are in the chamber, and inspect the chamber for dirt or grime. If the chamber is dirty, clean it with a dry cleaning cloth. Insert six AA batteries into the chamber, being careful to mind the polarity indicators printed on the inside of the chamber. Replace the battery chamber cover and try to power on your Brady.

Reduce the font size if the printable surface is too small to fit the entire label. Push the button labeled "Font Size" (located on the front of the Brady just to the right of the display beneath the "Print" button). You will see the current font size displayed on the LCD screen. Use the "Down" key to lower your font size, or enter in a font size number using the numbered keypad (located the bottom of your Brady). Lower the font size enough so that your entire label will print onto the label sticker. Push "Enter" (the large green button located to the right of the display) to save your font settings and exit the menu.
