How to Repair a Sony E540 Monitor
The Sony CPD-E540 monitor is a member of Sony's Trinitron monitor system. Even though it has high quality components, it still can run into problems. Most issues on the CPD-E540 are pretty common among all CRT monitors and can be fixed easily at home.

Reset the monitor by unplugging both cables and resetting them. This will make sure that they are properly locked into position.

Remove any electronics near the screen if there are any red or green blotches on it. The blotches should go away almost instantly.

Fix a shaky screen by removing any magnet that is near it. Magnets cause interference with the screen, causing it to shake.

Demagnetize your monitor by pressing the "Degauss" selection on the "Menu" screen.
Call a technician to fix a cathode ray tube, as it should be worked on only by a highly trained professional.
