How to Repair a Sony E540 Monitor

The Sony CPD-E540 monitor is a member of Sony's Trinitron monitor system. Even though it has high quality components, it still can run into problems. Most issues on the CPD-E540 are pretty common among all CRT monitors and can be fixed easily at home.

Instructions

    • 1

Reset the monitor by unplugging both cables and resetting them. This will make sure that they are properly locked into position.

    • 2

Remove any electronics near the screen if there are any red or green blotches on it. The blotches should go away almost instantly.

    • 3

Fix a shaky screen by removing any magnet that is near it. Magnets cause interference with the screen, causing it to shake.

Tips & Warnings

  • Demagnetize your monitor by pressing the "Degauss" selection on the "Menu" screen.

  • Call a technician to fix a cathode ray tube, as it should be worked on only by a highly trained professional.
