How to Eject a Person from AOL Chat

How to Eject a Person from AOL Chat thumbnail
Chat rooms allow AOL users to communicate with each other instantly in group settings.

AOL is an international Internet service provider and media company that provides its millions of customers with a wide variety of Internet and communication services. One of its most popular features are the thousands of user-created chat rooms freely available to all AOL users. However, there may be times when the members of a chat room need to remove a disruptive member from the chat. For that reason, AOL has provided its users with a way to eject disruptive members from chat rooms that they have created.

Instructions

    • 1

Ensure that you have moderator privileges within the chat room. If you are the creator of the chat, you automatically have moderator status. For AOL-created permanent rooms, you must be AOL staff assigned to that room, or an AOL Guide.

    • 2

Select the user you wish to eject. Click on the person's username in the "People Here" list. This is the list of chat participants in the room located on the right side of the chat room.

    • 3

Click the "Eject Member" option in the pop-up menu. This will remove the username from the chat room immediately. The user will receive a message from the system informing her that you have removed her. She will not be able to re-enter the room as long as it remains continuously open, unless a moderator unblocks her.

Tips & Warnings

  • To unblock a user, click "Eject" under the "People Here" list and select the ejected user's name. Click on "Allow User" to allow the user to re-enter the chat.
