How to Program a Remote for a Cablevision Cable Box
Cablevision is a telecommunications company that operates out of the New York metropolitan area. In addition to Internet and telephone services, Cablevision is the primary cable television provider for most of the New York area. The company uses Scientific Atlanta iO remote controls for its cable boxes and digital video recorders. The remotes must be programmed to work with specific television brands. Cablevision maintains a list of more than 200 brands, each of which has one or several possible remote control codes. Programming is easier with the codes, but it is possible without knowing them.

Tips & Warnings
If you use the second method, you can figure out your television brand's code. Hold the "TV" and "Sel" buttons for several seconds until the "iO" button illuminates. Press the "Info" button once and watch the "iO" button. The "iO" button will blink the code with a 1-second space between each number. For example, if it blinks eight times, pauses, blinks one time, pauses and blinks three times, the code is 813. Zero is indicated with 10 blinks.
Changing the remote's batteries does not erase the programming codes.
