Maintain your snowboard base by cleaning and making repairs as necessary.

Maintain your snowboard base to keep it smooth and functioning properly. Regular use can result in minor scratches and tears that can easily be repaired before the damage worsens. A well-maintained snowboard glides smoothly and turns efficiently, allowing you to enjoy the sport more. With just a few tools and materials, you can keep your snowboard base in optimum condition. Snowboard base maintenance depends on how often and how hard you ride. Inspect it after each use for possible tears.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the cloth to wipe off any dirt or dust from your board.

    • 2

Apply base cleaner throughout the base to dissolve any wax residue. The base cleaner also will bring other impurities to the surface.

    • 3

Allow the base cleaner to settle and evaporate for about 15 minutes, then wipe the surface using the cloth.

    • 4

Look for damage such as small gouges and rust spots in your snowboard base. Small damage is repairable at home but larger and deeper ones should be repaired by the experts.

    • 5

Light the P-Tex candle with the match and let two or three drops of it fall into the gouges. Let the base surface cool down along with the P-Tex for about five minutes or until the candle wax is dry.

    • 6

Use the scraper to remove excess P-Tex and to smoothen the surface.

Tips & Warnings

  • Wax your snowboard base about every third time of usage for better maintenance. Take it to your local board shop for professional waxing, or purchase a kit and do it yourself.
