How Can I Clean Silver With Homemade Items?
Whether you have silver flatware and serving pieces, silver decor items, or silver jewelry, you will need to clean your silver items from time to time. Like other metals, silver tarnishes when it oxidizes, This tarnish can be unsightly if it is not taken care of. Fortunately, you can easily remove black tarnish marks and polish silver to a high shine with an item or two from your cupboards. Does this Spark an idea?

Mix 2 tsp. of baking soda and 1 tbsp. of water in a bowl. Blend to make a paste.

Apply the paste to the tarnished silver with a dampened sponge. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush to get small crevices.

Leave the baking soda paste sit on tarnished silver for about 10 minutes.

Rinse the silver clean under a stream of cold water.

Rinse the sponge clean of baking soda. Add a drop or two of a mild dish soap, saturate it with water, and wring it out.

Sponge clean the silver items to remove baking soda residue.

Towel dry silver items to remove all excess moisture.

Tips & Warnings
Add a few drops of water to your baking soda paste if it seems too thick. Add a pinch or two of baking soda if your paste seems too thin.
Do not rub silver in a circular motion, it may cause damage. Straight up and down motions work best.
