How to Beg for a Job Back When Terminated thumbnail
If you ask for your job back, maybe you won't have to finish packing.

You often never know how much a job means to you until you don't have it anymore. Being fired from your job is a gut-wrenching feeling, because unless you have a lot of money in your savings account, you need some sort of income for your day-to-day expenses. If you want your job back, contact your boss right away and stay calm. Avoid drama.

Instructions

    • 1

Call your employer and ask to speak to your former boss. Tell your boss who you are and that you'd like to come in and speak to him for just a few minutes. If your boss called you to inform you of your termination, immediately ask to come in and speak to him.

    • 2

Arrive a few minutes early for your meeting. Treat the meeting like you would a job interview; wear business clothes and do not show up late. Showing up late essentially guarantees that you won't get your job back. If you were just informed you were fired, then put on a nice pair of clothes but get down to your place of employment as fast as you can so that you can talk with your boss.

    • 3

Explain to your boss why you need your job back. Tell her that you understand why you were fired but you are going to take steps to correct the problem. For example, if you were fired because of tardiness, tell your boss that you're going to set your alarm 30 minutes earlier, or that you're going to leave 20 minutes earlier in case of traffic.

    • 4

Tell your boss that you don't have another source of income and that your savings won't get you very far. Don't get on your knees and beg, but you want to make it a point that you really need your job back.

Thank your boss for his time and consideration. If you remain courteous and polite, your boss may be able to get you an interview with other business contacts in his network.

Tips & Warnings

  • Don't act dramatic. You want to make it a point that you need your job back, but crying and throwing yourself on the ground isn't going to make your boss any more sympathetic.
