How to Upgrade a Mio Navigation System
A Mio GPS can be upgraded with additional hardware which is available at the Mio store online, or with new and updated maps. Before updating the maps on your Mio, you must update the firmware. Both the updated firmware and maps are available on DVD, and can be purchased in the Mio eStore. These items are not, however, available for download online. To install the new or updated maps, you must first install the MioMore Desktop software application which also comes on the same map update disc.

Turn on the Mio GPS and connect it to the computer using the USB cable.

Insert the supplied update DVD into the computer's DVD drive. The installer will begin automatically.

Click "Update Firmware."

Choose the Mio model from the list when prompted. Click "Next."

Select "Update." Then click "OK" to proceed with the firmware update. The firmware will update and the Mio will restart itself.

Click "Finish" when prompted and disconnect the Mio from the USB cable.

Complete the firmware installation. These next steps vary per Mio model. For example, on the C250, hold down the Mio's power button and turn the Mio off. Restart the Mio and reconnect it to the computer. Press "OK" when an update complete message appears. Power off the Mio again. For the C320 and C520, disconnect the Mio and select "Next" on the installer screen. Then tap "Next" on the Mio screen. Reconnect the Mio to the computer when prompted. Disconnect the Mio and hold the power button until the Mio turns off.

Install MioMore Desktop on your computer. Insert the supplied DVD into the DVD drive. Click "Install MioMore Desktop." Select your preferred language when prompted. Click "Next" and accept the license agreement. Click "Next" again. Click "Install" to complete installation. Select "Finish" when prompted to complete the installation.

Open MioMore Desktop and enter the product key supplied on the DVD package into the product key fields on the software startup screen. Click "Continue." Click "Finish" when software activation is complete.

Click the "Activation" tab in the left pane of the MioMore software. Enter map product key into the corresponding fields. This key can also be found on the packaging. Click "Continue."

Choose "CD/DVD ROM" as the map location. Click "Continue."

Click "My Maps" in the left pane. The software will list the map on the disc. Select the regions of the map (e.g., Austria or Finland) you want installed from the drop-down list. Click "Install Maps," and then "Transfer Now" and the maps will be installed on the Mio GPS.
