Instructions

    • 1

Obtain a notebook of some kind. Any notebook that you can easily write in will work fine.

    • 2

Check to see if your grocery store of choice has a website. Some larger volume grocery stores will have lists of what all of their groceries cost. If this is the case, you can simply record all of the groceries that you normally buy or might at some time buy into your notebook with their price.

    • 3

Travel to the grocery store. If your favorite grocery store does not have a website where it lists all of their grocery prices, you will have a little more footwork to do.

    • 4

Go around the store to all of the groceries that you normally would buy or would at some point have reason to buy. Record their name, location, and price in your notebook for future reference. If you can, do everything in sections (dairy, grain, fruit, etc).

    • 5

Go home and record the information in your computer. A Microsoft Word of Microsoft Excel document works best. If you use Excel, you can add up what any combination of groceries will cost. To do this, check the Excel tutorial found on its software. This step is not necessary, but it can help you keep things organized. If you just want to keep it in the notebook, that works too.
