How to Repair an AOC 5EN PC Monitor

The AOC 5EN is an older monitor. Unlike newer monitors that run on an liquid crystal display, the 5EN relies on a cathode ray tube (CRT) to display the image. CRT monitors share similar problems, so diagnosing and repairing the faulty monitor is not challenging.

Instructions

    • 1

      Degauss the monitor to remove all magnetic buildup. Click the "Menu" button. Move to the "Degauss" selection. Click the "OK" button to cause the screen to shake, removing the magnetic buildup.

      Install the AOC's drivers that came with the monitor. While most monitors never occur a driver error, it does happen. Insert the driver installation disc and install them if it does happen.

      Adjust the brightness of the screen is too dark. The brightness can be controlled by adjusting the brightness knob on the front of the screen.

  • Read the monitor's owners manual for more information.

  • Do not repair any of the electronics inside the machine. They have to be repaired by a technician.
