How to Cope With Engagement Breakup
Coping with a breakup after you're engaged can be very difficult. There are emotional issues to deal with but also practical ones, depending on how close you were to the wedding and how much planning had been done. Early steps you must take include returning any gifts and letting the guests know the wedding has been canceled. But one of the most important things is to stay busy and try to move on with your life, even though you're grieving the end of the relationship.

1
Return any engagement gifts to the people who gave them to you. This can be time-consuming, but it is proper etiquette. This includes money that you have been given. The bride should also return the engagement ring, and the groom may ask for it if she does not offer it back.

2
Send brief notices to your guests informing them that the wedding will not be taking place if the invitations have been sent out already. If it is too close the wedding for printed notices to arrive in time, call your guests to let them know. You do not need to provide an explanation of why the wedding has been canceled.

Call all the vendors and your minister or priest to let them know that the wedding has been canceled. Depending on how close the cancellation is to the wedding date, you may get some money back, but will likely lose your deposit or have to pay penalties.

Stay busy. It will be an emotional time, so it is important to connect with friends and family. Take time for yourself to pursue whatever interests you enjoy. Work out regularly and eat properly because this will keep you feeling good even on difficult days.
